MACH | Automation for Hotels

MACH is an integral system for hotel automation with the emphasis on:

By using modern technological solutions and analyses of operational processes at the hotel, a system which is easy to implement and gives answers to ever-growing demands which hotel operators are faced with when dealing with work efficiency as well as with safety of guests has been achieved.

Energy and water consumption savings
Centralized system can optimize air conditioner system to minimize energy consumption and significantly cut energy costs. While a guest is in a room, AC is maintained according to guest’s whishes, and when out, the room automatically switches to energy saving mode.

When the guest leaves the room, all non-essential energy loads are switched off. They switch back on when the guest returns to the room. Water supply in the bathroom is stopped after the guest leaves the room or if a flood (water leakage) is detected. As a result of this feature, there is a significant saving in water consumption and property damage.

Additional considerable savings are in non-rented-room mode, when AC is operated to further reduce energy consumption. All system parameters can be set according to hotel management requirements.

Comfort and guest safety
Using modern smart contactless cards, the system makes the entering in the room simple and highly safe. Cards are cloned-protected to avoid their misuse. They are also robust, easy to use, waterproof and long-lasting. The system ensures maximum control of personnel, controlling who, when and how to enter the room or other parts of the hotel, and records all events to a database. That enables cleaning personnel to enter the room exactly in time for cleaning, when the guest is not in the room (otherwise, sound signal and message “Personnel at the door” is generated).

If SOS alarm is generated in the room, entering of personnel is enabled without the guest’s intervention. By using “Guest Panel”, the guest maintains all parameters of AC. In base mode “On/Off”, “+/- temp”, or in advanced “Set AC Fan Speed”, “Ventilation”.

Communication with the guest, by using messages on the Guest Panel, is done in a language most comfortable for guest (defined during check-in).  The Guest Panel can also be used for presenting some important messages to the guest (alarms, warnings, information etc.). A special feature of guest panel is that all messages can be programed by end user, and that they can be displayed in virtually any language and any script (Cyrillic, Greek, Arabic, ..).

Optionally light intensity is automatically adjusted to an outside light level which prevents unpleasant lighting in a dark room and excellent legibility even under direct sun exposure.

Simple use
The use of every part of the system is optimally simplified for guests, as well as for personnel. Simple textual and symbolic messages on the Guest Panel, with ergonomically designed control and signaling elements for the use, are basic for its simplicity. Functional design, with sophisticated and optimized procedures, makes the system easy to use and enables fast execution of procedures, reducing probability of errors. Beside all these functions, the system enables the optimized use for personnel with different permissions and from different departments. “Reception view” contains all the information and procedures important for the reception desk (check-in/checkout, alarms, warnings, reports, etc.). “Cleaning view” and “Maintenance view” contain all the information necessary for related work (errors, “Make up room”, “Do not disturb, alarms, reports, etc.).

The Management Department has options and settings to additionally enable and maintain some relevant parameters for optimizing system usage, energy consumption etc. All information and settings can also be accessed and maintained from remote location, but also from mobile PDA devices (with HTML browser). That makes remote maintenance and supervision from inside or outside hotel location simple.

Increasing personnel efficiency
Simplification of procedures significantly encourages faster working with minimum errors. Additional analyses of personnel records enable to determine elements for future improvements of a single worker or a workgroup.

Integration with other systems in the hotel.

Modern system based on a standard SQL database and WEB technology represents an ideal platform for interconnection with other modern systems in the hotel. Such are businesses and financial systems (Hotel/Property Management, Building Management System, Reservations, POS, garage, sauna etc.).

Simple installations, service and reliability
MACH system requires only 25 % of installation works compared to other similar systems in the market. With additional use of wireless sensors for doors, windows or mini bar opening as well as wireless SOS sensors and
flood detectors the installation process can be further reduced. This all results not only with faster and cheaper installation, but also with minimum probability of errors and easier maintenance.

All parts of the system (except central server) can be repaired or changed within 15 to 30 minutes by technical staff employed by hotel. Workplace does not require any software installation (only WEB browser is required). In case of hardware failure only the PC needs to be change with some other available PC.

All system parameters can be set according to hotel management requirements.

A. Room entry solution

Room entry solution is based on MACH hotel automation system. It will allow card to be issued and revoked in real time form front desk, all the reporting regarding entering the rooms will be accessible without approaching locks/doors, but no energy saving features can be implemented.

This solution cannot be upgraded to Solution B or C without controller exchange.

B. Room access control based on MACH hotel automation system with basic energy saving

System will provide RFID based room access with on-line card management supervision and control. Room occupancy will be detected (based on card-holder) and made available as potential free contact for energy saving purposes. Alternatively as option, room occupancy may be delivered as server to server application if centrally managed AC system has to be supplemented with occupancy information. High quality door strikes with door opening contact will ensure robust noise free room opening, and security. Card readers outside room, will provide signaling of room occupancy (can be only visible if certain personnel card is presented before. In room card holder with pleasant illumination ensures simple card insertion for guests entering the room.

Extra safety features, as detection of lost card misuse attempt will be also included in solution.

Customer has to provide standard hotel mechanical locks.

This solution can be upgraded to solution C at any time.

C. Complete room automation based on MACH hotel automation system

Additionally to solution in B. this will also include full room temperature control through fan coil unit (up to four speed unit with direct multispeed speed and cool water valve control). A graphic multi language guest panel will be supplied for A/C control, but also for setting up "Do Not Disturb" status (indicated at door entrance and on workstations logged into MACH application) and "Make Up Room" status (similarly displayed as DND).
